Why Southwest

Physicians working through Southwest Medical are independent contractors. Therefore, there are no employment contracts. We are looking to recruit physicians that are sensitive to the unique needs and demands of the rural hospital setting, understanding that the ER is the “front door” of any hospital. Working as an independent contractor, there are no payroll deductions. You will receive a 1099 at the end of the year.

A designated regional schedule coordinator will be matched with you allowing for superior customer service. The coordinator will work seamlessly with you to identify, place, and schedule you at facilities that will meet your needs. Ultimately, you make your own schedule! Our schedulers are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to any situation that may arise.

Southwest Medical provides malpractice insurance for each Southwest Medical physician working in our contracted facilities. Our current insurance broker is Healthcare Liability Solutions, Inc. (HLS). Risk management is provided through our insurance.

A designated regional credentialing coordinator will be assigned to gather any information needed to ensure a complete, accurate, and current package is submitted to any facility you would like to work at. The coordinator will also remind you of any credentialing updates required so that they may be completed at a time convenient to your schedule.
